Perkins Named APSU Athlete of the WeekCLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Emily Perkins, of Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week. Perkins scored both game-winning goals in Austin Peay’s victories at Morehead State and against Eastern Kentucky last week, helping the Lady Govs clinch a first-round bye in this week’s Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, hosted by UT Martin. The Nashville, Tenn., native scored in the 20th minute, Friday, on a pass from junior Andy Quiceno in a 1-0 victory at Morehead State. Perkins assisted on Tatiana Ariza‘s 13th-minute goal and then scored the eventual game-winner in the 24th minute in a 2-1 win, Sunday, versus Eastern Kentucky. For her efforts, Perkins was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Soccer Player of the Week and was awarded Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the OVC. The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
