
Clarksville High beat Hendersonville 2-1 at Hilda J. Richardson on Thursday night to win the Division I Region 5 Class AAA Championship.
The Lady Wildcats (19-4-0) made history by winning the first regional championship in girls soccer in Clarksville Montgomery County School System history.
The Hendersonville Commandos (16-3-3) beat the Lady Wildcats during the regular season by the same 2-1 score.
Clarksville High is set to host their first sectional game on Saturday at 7 p.m. against District 12-AAA and Region 6-AAA runner up Franklin, a team they lost to this season 3-2.
Amber Colvin scored the first goal in the 18th minute with an assist from Ella Baggett.
The Lady Wildcats defense held the Lady Commandos scoreless until the 40th minute when a header from Emma Svedin bounced off multiple players and the cross bar to go pass CHS goalkeeper Melia Carrea.
Baggett scored the go ahead and game-winning goal in the 70th minute with an assist by Salera Jordan.
Both of the teams’ goalies had seven saves.
