It was a wild regular season high school football opener between Fort Campbell and Clarksville High Friday night at Hilda J. Richardson Field, a thrilling that the Falcons won over the Wildcats 26-20 in two overtimes. It ended when FCHS’s Triston Luke, who rushed for 229 yards on 34 carries and had 250 total yards, scored his second touchdown of the night and lifted the Falcons to the six-point victory with his four-yard run in the second overtime. Last year CHS won 34-20. That was the big highlight of a game that was played without lights for most of the first half and it wasn’t until 8:15 p.m. when they finally came on with 2:07 left in the second quarter. After a 10-minute break, the teams finished the period, then took a 5-minute overtime and finished the second half under the lights. It was a game that saw Clarksville High jump out to a 14-0 lead, before FCHS tied it at 14-all on Luke’s first touchdown with 5:31 left in the third and on Jaylen Williams’ two-point conversion pass to Isaiah Washington CHS (0-1) went up 7-0 when Dalin Brridges scored in the first quarter and Dominic Critchlow made the extra point kick. The Wildcats then upped it to 14-0 after Garrett Carrol returned a fumble for 33 yards and Critchlow made his second PAT. Luke scored his and the Falcons first touchdown and the two-point conversion made it 1441-4. CHS answered when Bridges caught a 14-yard pass from Jeff Webb with 2:24 left in the third. But the two-point pass failed and the Wildcats led just 20-14. In the final moments of the fourth quarter each team got interceptions to end potential game-winning drives. FCHS’ Drayton Simmons got the first one with about 51 seconds left and about four plays later CHS’ Aaron Wallace picked his off 24 seconds left to send it into overtime. Both teams missed kicks in the first overtime, when team get four chances from the 10. In the second overtime, Critchlow’s final attempt sailed just left and the Wildcats gave FCHS the ball. Then on second down Luke plowed in from the four carrying a few tacklers and gave the Falcons the win. ![]() Fort Campbell beat Clarksville High 26-20 in double overtime in the season opener for both teams Friday night.
